Welcome Reception 2021-22
Don't forget National Offer Day is Friday April 16th 2021.
School admissions will notify all familes-
- Parents who applied online or provided an email address on their application form will be notified by email of the outcome of their application.
- Letters will be sent by first class post to notify other parents of the outcome of their application.
To our new families
Once you have been offered a place at Saltdean Primary, you will need to follow the instructions in the email/letter. Saturday 1st May 2021 is the closing date for familes to accept or decline the place they have been offered. If families do not reply, the offer may be withdrawn.
We will be in contact in April with all of our families via a welcome letter. This will include details about tranisition, home visits and September start dates. We are very much looking forward to working with you and meeting your children.
We love our school and are always excited to show new parents/carers and children around. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the safety of our staff and children remains paramount and so we will not be running our popular open day and evening events. We had planned to run one Parent Evening but we have been notified today (14.10.20) by Brighton and Hove Council that all schools have been advised with the current rise in cases not to hold any Parent events. In order to protect our community, we have unfortunately decided not to hold an Open Evening but will continue to review this if the situation changes. However, we have created a virtual tour below so you can get a feel of our school. Please also find details regarding our Zoom meeting where you will get to meet the team and we will be answering any questions you might have about the school.

At Saltdean Primary School, we love the early years! Over the last 4 years we have worked hard to develop both our classroom and outdoor provision with a child-centred and active learning approach. We were delighted that this was recognised in our most recent Ofsted inspection:
'Reception teachers provide challenging activities in an exciting and well-resourced outdoor area, developing children’s imaginative learning through play. Across all early years classes there are clearly focused learning activities. Teachers have a good understanding of each child’s attainment on entry. They use this information to adapt the early years provision, addressing any specific gaps in children’s development quickly. Consequently, children in Reception make consistently strong progress and a high proportion reach a good level of development by the end of the early years. Parents recognise that the Reception environment nurtures and challenges their children well. They are delighted with the good start that their children make at school.'
Whilst we can't invite you into school, we have created the video above to give you a flavour of a day for a Reception child. We hope you enjoy!
Choosing a primary school for your child can be difficult especially when we are lucky enough to live in Brighton and Hove with so many great schools. We believe that you get a 'feel' for a school and this is vital when finding the right choice for your family. We really wish we were able to invite you in to see our school as we are incredibly proud of not only our children, but our environment too. Please find below our 'Virtual Tour' which offers a walking guide around the school.
We were delighted to host a Webinar on Thursday 3rd December from 6.00pm-7.00pm. Thank you to all the parents/carers who were able to join us. If you were not able to join but you would like to find out more about Saltdean Primary, please see the slides that we shared at the meeting.
