We look forward to welcoming families to our school to show you our fantastic environment and answer any questions you have. Please check back on this page as to how you can arrange your visit.

The closing date for applications is midnight on 15 January 2022 and online applications can be changed and resubmitted up until this date.  The last application submitted, or form received by the closing date will be taken as your final selection of preferences.

If you live outside of Brighton and Hove, you will need to apply to your local authority.

Don't forget National Offer Day is Tuesday 19th April 2022

Brighton and Hove school admissions will notify all families-

  • Parents who applied online or provided an email address on their application form will be notified by email of the outcome of their application.
  • Letters will be sent by first class post to notify other parents of the outcome of their application.

To our new families

Once you have been offered a place at Saltdean Primary, you will need to follow the instructions in the email/letter. You will be given a closing date for families to accept or decline the place they have been offered. If families do not reply, the offer may be withdrawn.

We will then be in contact with all of our families via a welcome letter. This will include details about transition, home visits and September start dates. We are very much looking forward to working with you and meeting your children.

Welcome to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)

At Saltdean Primary School, we love the early years! Over the last 5 years we have worked hard to develop both our classroom and outdoor provision with a child-centred and active learning approach. We were delighted that this was recognised in our most recent Ofsted inspection:

'Reception teachers provide challenging activities in an exciting and well-resourced outdoor area, developing children’s imaginative learning through play. Across all early years classes there are clearly focused learning activities. Teachers have a good understanding of each child’s attainment on entry. They use this information to adapt the early years provision, addressing any specific gaps in children’s development quickly. Consequently, children in Reception make consistently strong progress and a high proportion reach a good level of development by the end of the early years. Parents recognise that the Reception environment nurtures and challenges their children well. They are delighted with the good start that their children make at school.'

Please find our video from last year which helped to give our families a 'feel' of our school when we were unable to invite them in due to Covid restrictions.

Virtual Tour

Choosing a primary school for your child can be difficult especially when we are lucky enough to live in Brighton and Hove with so many great schools. We believe that you get a 'feel' for a school and this is vital when finding the right choice for your family. Please find below our 'Virtual Tour' which offers a walking guide around the school.

Getting Ready for school

Your children starting school might seem like a long way off still but as we all know time flies. Please click on the link to find Top Tips for preparing your children for starting school. We also thought you might like to share with them some stories. Please find below some of the stories our previous Reception teachers shared with their classes over lockdown.
