Forest School
What is Forest School?
“Forest school is an inspirational process, that offers all learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop self confidence and self-esteem through hands on experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees.” Forest School Association
Forest school is currently being run as a specialist intervention for groups of children at Saltdean Primary School.
Research shows that regular contact with the outdoors in sessions such as these can really help boost self-esteem and confidence; develop resilience and problem solving; promote teamwork and co-operation skills and provide children with a sense of responsibility.
During the sessions, children are given the freedom to explore the site in whatever way they choose under the supervision of experienced staff with high children/staff ratios. Adults are DBS checked and the Forest school leader holds an outdoor first aid qualification. Our forest school leader works at the school as a Learning Mentor (Miss Zoey Bell) as well.
If you have any questions about Forest School, please get in touch with Miss Bell, via the school office.
