Reception parent information session
As you know, in September your child/children will move into Year One.
You may be aware that as they leave the Foundation Stage, the curriculum changes to that of Key Stage One. This brings with it a different assessment system, structure of the school day (times remain the same for drop-off and pick-up) and a new range of subjects as we move away from the ‘Areas of Learning’.
The children will, of course, be supported fully and a carefully planned transition period will take place in Summer Term (planned collaboratively by Reception and Year One staff).
To support your understanding of the new structure and systems, you are invited to attend a parent information session on Tuesday 17th July at 3.30. The session will last no more than 30 minutes and will include information on the following:
- Year One staff team
- Transition from Early Years Foundation Stage to Key Stage 1
- Assessment and end of year expectations
- Teaching structure and lessons
- Topics and educational visits
- Home/School communication
- Home learning expectations
We hope that this session will prove useful in aiding you and your child as they move up the school.
