Ovingdean Green festival!
Ovingdean Residents and Preservation Society are planning an exciting mid-summer celebration for 2018, which brings together a number of groups concerned with the local environment. The event, Ovingdean Green Festival, will be held on Saturday 23rd June 2018 and will take place on Ovingdean Village Green (in front of St Wulfran’s Church) from 12 noon to 5pm. There will be live music, traditional maypole dancing, morris dancing, an informal dog show, face painting, ‘bug hotel’ making, sheep petting, stalls selling local products and educational tours of the church. Entry is free and all are welcome to attend.
In the lead up to the Ovingdean Green Festival, organisers are launching an exciting Eco-poster design competition aimed at children aged 3-13 years and we would love as many children from Saltdean to take part as possible! Poster artwork should be themed around an environmental call for action to raise awareness of the effects of pollution on wildlife and the environment. Children may use pens and pencils, paint, collage or photography and entries should be no larger than A3 size. The judges are looking for creativity and originality. One winner and two-runners up per key stage will be announced on Friday 15th June 2018 at www.ovingdean.co.uk and the winning posters will then be displayed at Ovingdean Green Festival. Prizes will include art materials and equipment, plus exciting days out at attractions in Sussex.
If your child would like to take part in the competition, please hand all entries to your class teacher by Friday 25th May 2018. All entries must include the following details on the back of the poster: the child’s name, age, school, class, parent/guardian’s name and contact address or email.
